Dr. Wayne is a physiatrist, a Medical Doctor trained in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He works hand-in-hand with orthopaedic surgeons to diagnose, treat, and direct the rehabilitation of disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Wayne is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Wayne’s practice is focused on Electrodiagnostics; studying the electrical properties of nerves and muscles. Patients are commonly referred to Dr. Wayne for symptoms of numbness, tingling, weakness and pain, to be evaluated using Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyography. The most common clinical entities include: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Neuropathies, and Radiculopathies ( Pinched nerves in the neck and/or back).
Dr. Wayne has also served as medical advisor to many local and national workers’s compensation insurance carriers. He was the Director of the Residency Program for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Virginia Commonweath University, Medical College of Virginia. A highly regarded speaker and teacher, Dr. Wayne served 10 years as state president and on many committees for the Virginia Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has remained active on many committees for the national Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
