The Hand Surgery Center
Dr. Glowacki is a renowned hand surgeon who has been with Advanced Orthopaedic Centers since 1997. In the majority of the cases, he utilizes arthroscopy and microsurgery in his procedures, which range from surgery of the elbow, arm, wrist and hand. He frequently treats carpal tunnel and other common conditions of the hand and wrist, and collateral ligament repairs of the elbow.
In addition to 13 years of clinical experience, Dr. Glowacki has done extensive research on ligament tears of the wrist, nerve injuries, carpal tunnel surgery, and the biomechanical effects from ligament repairs. Education, research, and experience combine to provide an experience where the patient understands the diagnosis and treatment, feels comfortable to ask questions and has confidence in the plan.

Dr. McDermott is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, specializing in the treatment of the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow with a special emphasis in microsurgery and post- traumatic reconstruction.
Dr. McDermott serves as a clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. His research has been published in the Journal of Hand Surgery and presented at national meetings. In addition to his academic interests, Dr. McDermott also enjoys athletics and has served as team physician for the United States Under 21 National Soccer Team.

Dr. Sharma grew up in Northern Virginia and double majored in biology and kinesiology at The College of William & Mary. He then came to Richmond and received a Masters in Human Physiology. He then attended medical school and did his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Sharma has also completed a Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic. He has been active in research and published in peer reviewed hand journals and presented at national meetings for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and American Association of Hand Surgery. He returns to Richmond and joins AOC as a Hand and Elbow specialist. He has a particular interest in trauma and reconstruction of the elbow.
